Question: When and where is World Hindi
Conference being organised?
Answer:
World Hindi Conference is being organised in New York
from 13th to 15th July 2007.
Question: Who is organising the event?
Answer:
World Hindi conference is being organised by Government of India. Coordination
work relating to the conference is being looked after by Ministry of External
Affairs. In New York, Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan is taking care of local
arrangements with help from other Hindi organisations based in the US.
Question: Has there been any committee
constituted to oversee the event?
Answer: A steering
committee has been constituted under the Chairmanship of Sh. Anand Sharma,
Minister of State, Ministry of External Affairs. The committee consists of 33
Non-Official members and 14 Official members. The Non-official members include
parliamentarians, Hindi scholars, Journalists, Littérateurs, experts etc.
Eleven sub committees have also been constituted to oversee different aspects
of the conference.
Question: How many sessions would be
organised during the conference?
Answer: There
would be a total of nine academic sessions. Apart from these, there would be an
inaugural session on 13th July 2007, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM. There would
also be a Closing Ceremony on 15th July 2007, from 2:30 PM to 5:00 PM.
Question: I want to read a paper
during the conference. What should I do?
Answer: Please
send a summary of the paper you intend to read (in maximum 300 words) by May
20, 2007 to the address mentioned below. If the paper is accepted, you would be
informed about the same.

Question: I wish to participate in the
conference on my own. How do I proceed?
Answer:
Registration fee is Rs. 4000 in Indian currency and US$ 90 in American dollars.
The delegates will have the facility to register themselves on-line followed by
registration fees by DD or Pay Order within one week of registration. Once the
amount is credited into the designated account, the delegate concerned will be
given a confirmation letter indicating a registration number. This letter can
be presented with their visa applications to the US Embassy/Consulate. The
registration fees can be sent to:

Question: What is the mode of payment?
Answer: Registration
fees in Indian Rupees will be paid by DD or Pay order of Rs. 4000 drawn in
favour of 'Pay and Accounts Officer, M/o External Affairs' (payments by
cash or cheques will not be accepted).
Payments in US$ in America and by delegates from
countries other than India will be made by DD or Pay order of US$ 90 drawn in
favour of 'CGI, New York 8th World Hindi Conference'.
Question: Are there any deadlines?
Answer:
The last date for registration for the conference and
payment of fee has been extended upto June 10, 2007.
Delegates registering after 31st May 2007 may kindly ensure that
the registration fee is paid along with their registration. The fee
should reach Ministry of External Affairs in
India
and Consulate General of India,
New
York
positively by June 10, 2007.
